Northern Patagonia and Austral Road
The Chilean Patagonia begins In the south where the country begins
breaking off into tiny islands. This is one of the most unexplored
regions in the country, and the Austral
Road extends more than 1,000 Km (625 mi), uniting the rest of
the territory.
Patagonia is a place of adventure for nature lovers, displaying
landscapes of mountains, lakes, glaciers, and forests which appear
almost entirely in their original state.
Activities such as fly-fishing, kayaking, and rafting are the main
attractions for visitors of the Austral Road, and can be practiced
in places such as the Futaleufu River,
Simpson,
and the lakes Elizalde
and General Carrera.
In the Patagonian fjords, glaciers slowly begin to appear whose
dazzling blue crystalline ice is best appreciated in the Queulat
National Park and Laguna
San Rafael.
