In southern Chile, 50 km (31 mi) from Chaitén, in the Province of Palena (Region X), in the middle of the Patagonia, you will find Lake Yelcho with its crystaline waters. It’s the paradise for lovers of fly-fishing and the outdoors, offering a beautiful variety of native wildlife, and fauna unique to the rest of the world. On the shores of the lake is the Hotel Yelcho, created for tose who like direct contact with the virgin nature of the area, from the peace and relaxation that is imposible to avoid, to the incredible fishing. The comfortable hotel was constructed with native woods, and includes cabanas and camping, with all the necessary conveniences to allow guests to enjoy their stay.

We guarantee good Rainbow and Brown Trout fishing for the whole season. You will also be able to find some exceptional Chinook and Coho Salmon during March and April.

In the lake we will fish in different areas, but we highlight Leones Bay, Yelcho Chico and the mouth of the Futalefu River. We will go down the Yelcho River, stopping to fish in the holes, to arrive at the mouth of the Michinmahuida River. It’s interesting to see the trout jumping in these emerald green pools.

Yelcho Lake
This beautiful lake which originated from a glacier boasts lovely crystalline, turquoise waters. It is located 50 km (31 mi) from Chaiten in the middle of tall, lush hills. Some of its highlights are the snowcapped peaks and a dense, impenetrable forest. It is internationally known for its sport fishing, especially species such as Brown, Rainbow, and Brook Trout, weighing approximately 4.5 lbs.
