Chile : Tours : Glaciers of Patagonia

Program with lovely walks to the most beautiful glaciers in the Patagonia. "Soft Adventure" version with 2 nights of camping in front of the Leones glacier and paddling to the foot of the eternal ice.

Day 1. Balmaceda / Coyhaique / Terra Luna (In)
Departure from Coyhaique or Reception at Balmaceda airport. We follow the Austral road to Puerto Guadal. On the way, we visit "Villa Cerro Castillo", wonderful plain dominated by the mountain that takes the same name. We had lunch in a Typical Patagón Restaurant, then we follow to Puerto Tranquilo and (weather conditions allowing) we do a boat excursion to the “Marble Chapel" fantastic maze of caves drawn by the millenary waves of the lake. Arrival to Puerto Guadal. Welcome drinks and dinner in Terra Luna Restaurant on the shore of General Carrera Lake.

Day 2. Terra Luna
Full day in the area of Puerto Guadal where you can enjoy several excursions (Baker river, lakes, fossils, glaciers, etc...) and activities like trekking, mountain biking, horse back riding, fishing, etc... (see description of activities and excursions).. Back to the lodge.

Day 3. Terra Luna / Exploradores Glaciers / Terra Luna
We take the car to visit Exploradores valley, amongst the rain forests of the are. We reach lake Bayo and do a small trekking (1h) towards Explorador glacier, coming from Mount San Valentín. Back to Terra Luna.

Day 4. Terra Luna / Meliquina Glaciers / Terra Luna
Transfer to Pta Baja. Full day trekking (6h-8h) amongst the meadows and ancient forests to reach lake Meliquina and its glacier. Descent into Leones valley and nice view on the other face of San Valentin. Transfer back to Terra Luna.

Día 5. Terra Luna / Soler Glaciers / Terra Luna
Transfer to Lake Bertrand, navigation with a Jet boat on lake Bertrand, lake Plomo to get into Soler valley. We navigate now up the Soler and Cacho river to see Soler glacier coming from the icefield. Magnificient view on mount Hyades. Back to Terra Luna.

Day 6. Terra Luna / Leones Glaciers / Terra Luna
We cross lake General Carrera with the jet boat. We follow upward Leones river. Small trekking (1h) to reach lake Leones. Navigation in zodiac to get the front of the glacier. Incredible panoramas. Back to Terra Luna.

Day 7. Terra Luna / Chile Chico / Balmaceda or Coyhaique (Out)
Breakfast. Transfer by the fantastic route that borders the South shore of the General Carrera Lake towards Chile Chico. We stop in the spectacular viewpoint to Green Lagoon of “Minera La Escondida”. We continue bordering the lake until the town of Chile Chico on the border with Argentina, where we take a small plane back to Balmaceda, during the flight we enjoyed an impressive view on the General Carrera Lake and the mountains that surround it. Arrival to Balmaceda or Coihaique. End of services.

Optional Excursions

For those who want to live a unique experience, we highly recommend a flight over the Northern Icefields and Mount Saint Valentín (4057m) to San Rafael Lagoon (optional). This option is actually the cheapest to visit that National Park.Plane can pick you up close to Terra Luna.

The Program Includes

• Transfers from and to Balmaceda or Coyhaique (Local Flight OUT Chile Chico – Balmaceda or Coyhaique. Available only Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (maximum luggage weight; 15 kg), maximum capacity: 05 people. For groups higher than 5 pax, or operated other day than those in wich flight are available, both transfers IN & OUT will be done by land).
• 06 Lodgment night in Terra Luna with full board included (B:breakfast, L:lunch, D:dinner).

Recommended flights

• In Flight: Arriving Balmaceda before 12:00 hrs. (Noon)
