Conguillio National Park

'Conguillio' in the Araucanian
language, means ‘water with feathers.’ Among its greatest
attractions is the ‘Llaima’ Volcano at an altitude of 3,125
meters (10,250 ft), lakes and lagoons of volcanic origin,
and the ancient forests, many of which are unexplored. This
park is also known as ‘the umbrellas’, due to its ancient
araucaria forests.

Location
Region of Araucania, 148 kilometers (92.5 mi) northeast of Temuco. Curacautin is 28 kilometers (17 mi) northwest.
Location
How to get there
Santiago – Temuco by air, public and private transportation. The park has two entrances: Curacautin and Melipeuco. Temuco – Curacautin via public and private transportation.
Leave Curacautin by the southeast (Perez Canto Av.) and at about 23 kilometers (14 mi) you will find the entrance to the park by the sector ‘Laguna Captren.’ Take the Temuco – Melipeuco
route via public or private transportation. From Melipeuco take the road to ‘Paso de Icalma’, and after two kilometers you will find the detour to Conguillio, arriving at the sector
‘Saltos del Truful – Truful.

Warm and temperate, with a high temperature
variation; rains range from 2,000 to 2,500 millimeters
(78 to 98 in) yearly, and in winter, snow reaches up to
three meters (10 ft) in lower sectors. In the hottest
month, the average temperature is 15.1º C (59°F) in
January, and in the cold months, (June, July), it is 6ºC
(43°F).
