Puerto Natales and the Patagonian Channels, Tourist Destination

Across the broken geography of the Chilean Patagonia it's possible
to set off on a journey through the Patagonian Channels from
Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales,
dodging islands, peninsulas, traversing fiords, glaciers, and observing
the vegetation of the Patagonia.
The voyage starts in Puerto Montt, bordering along the Chiloé
Island and its main villages, Quellón
and Castro. It is possible to observe
the typical architecture characterized by its palafitos, lake dwellings
built on stilts above water, and more than 150 wooden churches.
Entering by the Moraledo Channel, on
the right you can see Magdalena Island National
Park, and a little further, Queulat
National Park, highlighted by its hanging ice drifts.
Continuing along the channels, further south it is possible to observe
the banks of Las Guaitecas National Reserve,
and the nearby San
Rafael National Park, famous for its glaciers, part of the
Campo de Hielo Norte (Northern Ice Field).
The ship will reach Puerto Eden as it continues along
Messier Channel, home of the last population of indigenous
Chilean Alacalufes. After a short visit there, the trip proceeds
to Puerto Natales. On this stretch of the journey, the collapsing
of the Costa mountain range and the Taitao Peninsula
can be observed, as well as the dispersing of the Andes mountain
range after the Bernardo O'Higgins National
Park, all accompanied by a jungle-like vegetation of native
Chilean plant species such as lengas, coigües, and Antarctic beeches.
