Ranco Lake means "crayfish waters" (Mapuche language) and, unlike many other lakes in the area, it has a coastal road that surrounds it completely, which permits you to travel the
entire circumference of the lake. This lake has a surface of 102,500 acres (41,000 ha). It boasts countless islands and almost all its shores are occupied by cabins and summer homes. It has
a first class tourist infrastructure and its main attraction is sport fishing. Huapi Island, the Mapuche reserve that strengthens the indigenous influence in the area, is located in the middle
of the lake.
